Amazon AWS now has a machine learning platform

Interesting how AWS goes in different directions.  It seems they are providing a platform for developers to use built in machine learning systems to help drive how applications react. http://techcrunch.com/2015/04/09/aws-wants-to-put-machine-learning-in-reach-of-any-developer/?ncid=rss&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29

Need to test your app for low bandwidth, FB has an answer

It seems in Facebooks quest to get its apps under control, they built an opensource project that you can toss onto a gateway system to modify the bandwidth the test device can have access too.  It looks pretty neat. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/03/24/facebook_network_simulator/

Wow, interns in the Valley make ALOT of cash

I just stumbled on this article and was shocked how much cash an intern in Silicion Valley and some other spots with big name companies can make.  I wish that was the case for the rest of the country. http://money.cnn.com/infographic/pf/10-best-companies-for-internships/?iid=HP_LN

Another round of Mindmapping Apps

Interesting article going over mindmap software for mobile.  I have not had much luck using mindmap software on a phone.  Some of the free ones sound interesting (Mindomo, SimpleMind, SchematicMind). http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/8-diagramming-apps-better-brainstorming-go/

Want to protect your code from Reverse Engineering

Look at this new tech called HARES, Hardened Anti-Reverse Engineering System.  It sounds neat, but still has some weak spots.  Right now it looks like its still a research project. http://www.wired.com/2015/02/crypto-trick-makes-software-nearly-impossible-reverse-engineer/ http://blog.jacobtorrey.com/hares-faq

Facebook takes after Netflix and Google, Opensources a bunch of tools

Looks like Facebook opensourced a bunch of its AI work.  Netflix and Google have done similar things with mixed results.  I’ll have to take a look at it in more detail in the future. http://www.wired.com/2015/01/facebook-open-sources-trove-ai-tools/

Good article on why most folks in the tech industry don’t trust companies for outsourcing

The article hits a home-run for me.  My experience has been companies more looking for “cheap” engineers and scientists than the lack of availability.  If there was such a large demand, why are the wages for most of these folks … Continue reading
