Xerox a good buy for retirment?
Some interesting articles about Xerox and if its a good buy for retirement minded folks. Overall it sounds like a pass. http://www.dailyfinance.com/2012/12/24/why-xerox-is-poised-to-bounce-back/ www.dailyfinance.com/2012/12/24/will-xerox-help-you-retire-rich/

Boxed wine spoils faster than bottle
I always thought it was the other way around, but I guess not. http://lifehacker.com/5969692/boxed-wine-spoils-faster-than-bottled-wine-so-keep-it-cold

Free(?) Protocol Analyzer Software
Basically it gets its information feed from the mic port on the PC. SO you still need to build the hardware for plugging into the mic. http://dangerousprototypes.com/2012/12/19/protocol-analyzer-for-ir-and-rf/
Using newlib with TI Stellaris
Nice writeup on using newlib with TI over glib. Real embedded systems usually don’t support system calls like printf. Adding in newlib allows this. http://eehusky.wordpress.com/2012/12/17/using-gcc-with-the-ti-stellaris-launchpad-newlib/

Arduino Jukebox
Nice looking box build with an arduino, basically the music is stored on an SD card (I think). My 2 cents, I would use something that gave me network connectivity to pull off radiostations and MP3s off a server. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=es&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Farduino-guay.blogspot.com.es%2F2012%2F10%2Freproductor-mp3-con-arduino-i.html

Because of thinking just cause its in the cloud, it won’t fail
Interesting that some folks servers are “vanishing” as amazon accidently takes them down. Did a little tinkering with AWS myself lately and its pretty neat stuff. Heck alot cheaper than running my own server from scratch. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/12/20/aws_ec2_servers_retired_with_little_warning/
Finally someone in the media sees what I see with Xerox’s direction
Basically the article points out that HP and Xerox are going to get some short term gains because of their positioning for tech support and call center/processing medical claims for the US Government. How can this be a gain for … Continue reading

Video Game Coffee Table with Raspberry Pi
My kids would totally love this. This may go on the build list for me (which is getting long lately). http://www.instructables.com/id/Coffee-Table-Pi/

ARM gets into the Secure Mobile Payments

3D printed Cookies
Just in time for the holidays. Nice build of a 3D printer used for spreading cookie dough. This stuff already exists in the commerical world. But not so much in the private/hobby folks. http://hackaday.com/2012/12/20/3d-printed-christmas-cookies/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29
