Adding command tools to Android without rooting the box

Basically the author is using busybox under the hood.  A good idea and will avoid “voiding” your lic. agreement  on an android device. http://hackaday.com/2012/12/05/common-linux-tools-on-android-without-root-by-installing-busybox/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Opensource simple password generator USB device

Nice little design for a password generator/ authentication token for USB.  Not sure how secure it is, and I think the YubiKey would be a better solution for about the same cost (unless you get this one in quantity) http://myweb.cableone.net/benlunt/blog/2012/09/index.html#Password_Generator

Another justification for 3D Printer

Basically the author talks about how a $600 dollar 3D printer kit, the printerbot, helped him create a replacement part for his dishwasher.  This is another good reason to have a 3D printer since getting parts for some of the … Continue reading

Networking for Arduino

Interesting idea, basically to save the # of pins used the gent came up with a serial port meets token ring sort of protocol…or at least that what it sounds like.   http://hackaday.com/2012/12/03/inventing-networking-protocols-for-dozens-of-arduinos/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Use a Laptop as a 2nd Display

Nice idea, but I would rather spend the couple of bucks and buy a 19 inch or better monitor. http://hackaday.com/2012/12/05/use-an-old-laptop-as-a-second-desktop-display/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+hackaday%2FLgoM+%28Hack+a+Day%29

Xerox the Brainiest?

Xerox apparently is thought of as one of the braniest companies.  Why?  Its mostly based on unique patents filed. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20121205/BUSINESS/312050058/Xerox-Corning-Delphi-among-brainiest-companies?odyssey=tab%7Cmostpopular%7Ctext%7CBUSINESS
