Another garage door opener build, this time with motion and cameras

Another interesting garage door build, this time with alot of extra stuff to make sure the door is secure (motion sensor, camera.  The author does a good job spelling out the build which will run you around $130 in parts.  … Continue reading

So much for a Teachers Pet Student…

This build which looks like a combo from VEX, arduino, and other random parts, will erase a whiteboard for the teacher.  Where was this when I was getting in trouble in school? http://www.instructables.com/id/Whiteboard-Erasing-Robot/?ALLSTEPS

Arduino Basketball Shot Counter

This build is based on this one which was a bit more costly.  I like this build cause I could build off of it to have something that keeps stats too.  Oh an arduino is used to keep tabs on … Continue reading

Building a retro arcade with RPi

OK yes I know this has been done before.  But the author did such a nice job on the instructions, I felt it should be highlighted.  Also I never realized HOW MUCH MONEY MAME controllers and such cost.  Even thru … Continue reading

Nice CNC build for bigger stuff

I like this build, and that the author uses OpenRail with V-bar, or T-bar.  Its pretty straight forward build and incorporates some bits of Shapeoko too.  My 2 cents….not sure if I would build this, its running the author around … Continue reading

Halftone CNC

I have seen this in the past, where you use a CNC and a v-carve like bit to make halftone cutouts.  But this time it looks like the author of drillpic did some major overhauls and improved the design alot.  … Continue reading

AES encryption on an ATiny

The author managed to get AES running on an ATiny for building a secure channel for a doorbell.  This is neat and I am impressed that it was done (in assembly no less). http://hackaday.com/2015/02/20/aes-cmac-on-an-attiny85/

Make your own scrub stick from PVC pipe

I like this build.  Instead of scrubbing your shower down just by a pad, the author makes a holder for the pad out of PVC so you can get more leverage out of it. http://www.instructables.com/id/PVC-Tiles-Clean-Pad/

Spin an old harddrive with a Soleniod

I got a kick out of this since it reminds me of steam power engines.  The author basically re-uses most of the hardrive and just attaches a bar from the heads (motor driver) to the platters. http://hackaday.com/2015/02/21/spin-up-an-old-hard-drive-with-a-solenoid-motor/

OK I like this way to make transfers for copper clad boards

From the King of Random.  He basically uses packing tape on paper to get the toner to tranfer over and then irons that onto the board.  This looks like a good way to do this.  And much easier than some … Continue reading
