I was reading this article about making a button for your kids to “press” and tell you where you are….but I was thinking this app maybe good for a bunch of other projects. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/make-sure-your-kids-are-safe-with-easy-mobile-check-ins/

This is interesting, Amazon is offering a developer like kit for creating web services for IoT devices (in particular these kits).  There is TI Launchpad, Intel Edison, Arduino Yun included in the list of hardware kits.  I may have to … Continue reading

5 Axis 3D printer

I could spend hours watching this thing.  Its a 5 axis 3D printer.  Now why would you want something like this?  Well its nice to expand out the sides without having to build supports along the way. http://www.open-electronics.org/amazing-open-source-5-axis-3d-printer-created-by-university-of-oslo-masters-student/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+OpenElectronics+%28Open+Electronics%29

3D print out a holder for a vinyl cutter for your CNC

Good idea, the author basically designed a holder for his 6040 CNC to hold a Roland Cutting Plotter blade holder (about $15).  This way he can cut out templates for other things (like tee-shirt stenciling). http://hackaday.com/2015/10/07/turning-your-cnc-into-a-vinyl-cutter/ Find the STL here: … Continue reading

way to store all those small pieces of wood

The author uses a concrete form tube.  They run $5-10 bucks.  Nice idea but I don’t think I would put the extra effort for the built in separator. http://lifehacker.com/organize-your-workshop-with-tubular-storage-1735170451
