Build a card reader and display

This is neat, if you get the parts from china you can build this for around $15.  Basically the system will scan you card, then display the number value out on the screen.  This could be useful in debugging problems … Continue reading

Make your own LED flood lights

Nice build.  The cost is $15 in parts (wood and wire free).  Time to build could be a bit intense.  Since the same thing would run around $40 its not a bad price.  Plus you could customize this for your … Continue reading

Make a simple water purifier with 2 soday bottles and a copper wire

Pretty nice build.  Basically the one bottle evaporates the water to help with purifying it.  Apparently the coppyer wire also helps here (not sure I understand that bit fully).  But this does seem too work.  2 changes I would do, … Continue reading

Nice build for a magnetic stirrer

Nice build, but I wish the author added in way to print out the object with other vendors.  And I would add a pot to make it variable speed. https://www.instructables.com/id/USB-Magnetic-Stirrer/

Make your own pocket hole jig

I like this build, but…bit time consuming to make.  However considering how much the kreg jibs run for these days, maybe worth trying out. http://makezine.com/2017/03/27/diy-pocket-hole-jig/

Cool clock with an arduino and a Neopixel strip

Pretty nice build, Only downside is if you buy NeoPixels from say Adafruit, its going to run you around $20 just for the LEDS (not including power supply, arduino…etc). https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Colorful-Clock-Using-Neopixel-Strip/

Make a simple portable panel saw

I love these things at home depot.  But as the author points out, they are very expensive and not exactly something that you can move around.  This is a nice build to make one much cheaper  and portable (oh and … Continue reading
