I have been toying with the idea to build a press for some time. So I thought I would post some links I found interesting on it:
http://thedeliberateagrarian.blogspot.com/2008/11/introducing-my-homemade-whizbang-cider.html Nice looking cider press with a car jack. Unfortunately not a lot of build details if you want to make one.
http://www.jamesandtracy.co.uk/howto/making_cider_press.htm – another nice looking build that could be easier (since its all square instead of a round frame), uses a car jack and is all wood.
http://www.the-gift-of-wine.com/cider%20press.html – This one is interesting (and I wonder if the author just wanted to finish it at the end) since in the beginning it was alot of work, but towards the end it looks like he just wanted to get it done.
http://www.jamieoliver.com/jimmyciderpress/cpf.pdf This is a very detailed set of directions on how to build the press (using a car jack). It looks like a nice build but…one down side, no basket for the pulp, you just used the bags to hold it in.
http://www.orionhomebrewing.com/2012/06/build-diy-apple-cider-press-basket-for.html This has to be my favorite (pictured), the frame is the same as most of the other builds, and uses the typical car jack method but….The basket is a home depot bucket and the press board is a cut up cutting board. pretty clever build overall.
http://www.myhomeamongthehills.com/2010/09/another-apple-cider-press/ Another (cheap) build where the author used a big steel pot for the basket.
