Use Blynk to controll your device via your phone

I haven’t heard of Blynk before, but it apparently is another way to controll IoT remotely from your phone.  It woks with arduino, RPi, ESP8266, Particle Core (No Idea on that one). and other stuff.  The article of course mentions all the other alternatives to this( Particle, ThingSpeak, Temboo, IFTTT).  Looks worth checking out for now.
