Turn an Old Phone Into a Smart Doorbell Camera With Facial Recognition
The phone is basically turned into a wifi camera, an RPI is used for an image server, and then cloud based apps for the rest. https://www.open-electronics.org/turn-an-old-phone-into-a-smart-doorbell-camera-with-facial-recognition/
Make an interactive stand for your Google Home
OK the site is thingiverse, but the video with the device to print gives a nice how to build the system. Basically you are using a Digispark as the controller with multi colored LEDS. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2817612
Getting Serial data from Arduion ot RPi to MySQL with CoAP
I have heard bits about CoAP in the past, never thought past that. Looks like CoAP could be a good simple interface for IoT builds. This one is getting sensor data out to the rest of the system https://www.instructables.com/id/Serial-Data-From-Arduino-to-Raspberry-Pi-to-MySQL-/
Turn an RPi into a Google Assistant
Not as nice as the real thing, but it gets the job done. Looks like you can even do this with the origianl RPi’s too. https://www.instructables.com/id/Google-Assistant-on-a-Raspberry-Pi/ Oh and go here for adding a button to it https://www.instructables.com/id/Button-Trigger-for-Google-Assistant-on-the-Raspber/

Dataplicity, a VPN/SSH connection for RPi
Interesting tool. I don’t think its open source but it sounds like a nice way to remotely ssh into machines. Dataplicity lets you access your Raspberry Pi from anywhere
