Nice hack for Digital readout on a small lathe

The author took some of the $10 Digital Calipers from harbor freight and took the caliper part off so it would slide with the lathe’s z/y axis.  Giving the system a DRO for a way cheaper price that a professional setup that can run into a couple of grand easy.
